An objection I often hear about Yoga participation is the cost.I get it. So get it. Especially in this economy. But I’ve done the math… $60-$65.00 per month gets you 240 to 300 minutes of Yoga per month…. That’s TWENTY-FIVE CENTS per delicious minute!! I think you would be hard pressed to find anything else that gives you such a return on such a small investment.
What’s the return? Connecting your body to your breath. Learning self-love, compassion, strength. When we tell our bodies that we will honour them they deliver; less pain, less stress, better sleep, better sex …. I can’t guarantee these things; it’s still work that you have to do but you’ll never know until you get here.
Often, I hear stay-at-home Moms say “I feel bad because I’m not working…” Ummm…. I have spent 3 weeks straight with two toddlers and husband working away… if that’s not “work” I don’t know what is. If I had not had Yoga during the early years of parenthood – ugh… I don’t even want to think about it.
Self-care isn’t just bubble baths and pedicures…. it’s like, ACTUALLY taking care of your health; physical and mental. Add up your Starbucks receipts at the end of the month…. $60.00 for Yoga starts to look not so bad. I have never had a Latte make me feel as good as 60 minutes of stretching my body and my mind.
