  • Workshop Wednesday - Maha Pratyahara
    February 20, 2019
    7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
We live in a culture that glorifies busyness, personal quiet and rest are not activities we are often encouraged to participate in.
And yet it is in these times of deep withdrawal and rest that our tired brains, weary bodies and heavy hearts find the most renewal.
There is much benefit in shutting out the noise and withdrawing inward if we feel safe and comfortable to do so.
In this workshop you will be guided through several techniques that will enhance and encourage your skilfulness in the practice of pratyahara:
“Pratyahara” can be translated to mean: “gaining mastery over external influences.” It has been compared to a turtle withdrawing into its shell—the turtle’s shell is the mind and the turtle’s limbs are the senses. The term is usually translated as “withdrawal from the senses,” but much more is implied.”
We can never truly take inventory of how damaging constant noise, screens, interaction and corporate demand is having on our nervous system until we have experienced what it is like to turn it all off.
Tiffany Rose will guide this practice with deep restorative restful postures for the body, accompanied by guided breath work followed by a guided meditative visualization and yoga nidra (yogic sleep). All props are provided, please bring a yoga mat, and wear loose fitting comfortable clothing (Pyjamas welcome) layers are best for changes in body temperature.
**There are a few spots reserved for Lacombe Yoga students (no cost) but you must reserve them ASAP before they are opened up for sale**
