An introduction to Yin Yoga will be offered by Jamie deKoning. This style of yoga targets the deep connective tissues of the body (vs. the superficial tissues) and the fascia that covers the body – this type of yoga is also used to help regulate the flow of energy in the body.
Jamie will take each practitioner through the most commonly used postures (or shapes as she likes to call them), gently and mindfully assisting everyone to find the best modifications for their body’s needs. Yin Yoga has a more meditative and calm approach than the more popular Yang style of Yoga… all of a Yin Yoga class takes place lying down or sitting up. As such, it is ideal for beginners, those recovering from injuries, people with mobility issues, older bodies, or a practitioner seeking effective ways to relax and calm their nervous system.
This 6 week series begins February 27 and runs until April 3rd, 2019
